What the f*ck is the point of this blog?

A lot of people have asked me what the point of this blog is, especially since we already have so many tools like GPT, Google, Claude, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok for content and information. But the truth is, this blog isn’t meant to compete with Google. Instead, it’s about creating the kind of human centric posts I wish would come up in search results. It’s a personal workshop where I can learn and explore new things, and my goal is to break down complex topics like finance and robotics into plain English for anyone who’s interested.

But mostly, I’m just writing this for me. This isn’t my first blog I’ve been at it for the past eight years. I’ve had two previous blogs, one focused on mental health, the other on my life experiences. But I tend to delete them, not because I don’t enjoy writing, but because I’m not a fan of leaving too much of a digital footprint. This blog might disappear in a year or two too.

Even so, this blog is different. It’s still for me more than anyone else. I write because it helps me think more clearly.

Why Do We Write?

Why do we write? To articulate our thoughts. In this age of digital consumption whether it’s reels, shorts, TikToks, podcasts, or Twitch streams we all need an outlet to process the constant flow of information. We all need an outlet to process the endless information we consume. And the truth is, all that information can’t be distilled into short posts or quick stories we post on social media. Some people use journals for this, but for me, it’s an open forum like a blog.

I write to streamline my thoughts. It's more for me than it is for the reader at this point. As humans, we are meant to create and produce. But lately, we’ve been programmed to consume. My excessive consumption of content was leading me to forget who I was at the core of it all. I found myself being swayed by the barrage of opinions online about things I shouldn’t even have opinions on. But because of an invisible pressure to conform to online discourse, I felt compelled to have an opinion anyway.

The truth is, it’s okay not to have opinions on everything. But short form content has conditioned us to think we must.

Do I Use AI for My Blogs?

The next question I often get is " Do I use AI for my blogs?" The short answer is yes. The long answer is also yes, but with some clarification. All the core ideas, thoughts, and feelings are mine and mine alone. I use AI primarily to help structure my posts, improve the flow, correct grammar, and generate images to accompany the blogs.

In the end, this blog is a creative outlet for me. Your creative outlet could be something else entirely like painting, music, carpentry, etc. This just happens to be mine.

If this were a few years ago, I would’ve said “Create, not consume.” But today, in a world where the inevitability of consumption has been fully normalized, I’d revise that to “Consume, but also create.”

Because the truth is, consumption isn’t inherently bad it’s how we learn, get inspired, and stay connected. But if all we do is consume, we slowly lose touch with our own voice. We become echo chambers of everything we take in. That’s why creating even in small ways is essential. It’s how we reclaim agency in a space that constantly wants our attention.
